ChAI uses Artificial Intelligence methods on Alternative Data such as satellite imagery to forecast commodity prices for manufacturers in order to assist them navigate their supply chain risks. It provides signals of how commodity prices will move in the future and is aiming to create insurance products underwriting this risk for its users.
ChAI was co-founded by Dr Tristan Fletcher who commenced his career in manufacturing through working as a supply chain focussed management consultant following his manufacturing engineering masters from Cambridge University. He then moved into the financial pricing and trading of commodities, which he has done in global investment banks and hedge funds. He has maintained a parallel career in academia with a further masters degree in computer science (Sussex), a doctorate in machine learning (UCL), a research fellowship on AI (Imperial) and an honorary lectureship (UCL) concentrating on commodities forecasting.
